Cagliari: Sardinia’s Capital Offering Delightful Local Flavors and Wines
Cagliari is not only the political capital of Sardinia, but also the capital of delicious food and excellent wines. All very well for the cruise guests who can find the best of local culinary delights just behind Via Roma, the main promenade along the touristic port. Here in the well-known Marina district, it is possible to taste typical dishes such as fregola, one of the treasures of traditional Sardinian cuisine—a local type of pasta cooked with seafood. Together with fregola, you can taste a typical wine, such as Bovale or Carignano.
For an in-depth experience, there are several wineries that offer their visitors the opportunity to enjoy a wine tasting or take a walk in the surrounding countryside. If, on the other hand, you prefer to relax by the sea, do join the locals for the traditional aperitivo at Poetto beach. Here, not far from the port, it’s possible to enjoy a selection of local finger food accompanied by one of the excellent local beers, while admiring a breathtaking view over the crystal-blue sea. And for those with a sweet tooth, seadas—filled with cheese and dipped in honey—and a sip of mirto, are an absolute must!
