Saint Maria's Cathedral (1255) was built in Medieval style and was remodelled several times in other styles: Pisan-Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and Neo-Romanesque. The church contains various underground crypts, the only accessible one is the Martyr's Sancturary, which is house to 179 niches containing relics of local martyrs. Other precious relics are preserved on the right side of the Cathedral, part of Christ's crown.
