The Mauritanian Wedding (Matrimonio Mauritano) is a traditional Sardinian ceremony that reenacts the ancient rural wedding rites of the island's farming communities, particularly in the town of Santadi. This symbolic celebration features a bride and groom in traditional attire, a procession on decorated ox-drawn carts, folk music and dances, and rituals such as the sprinkling of grain or water to bless the couple. Often performed with a real wedding, the event ends with a festive banquet showcasing Sardinian cuisine. More than a reenactment, it's a living tribute to Sardinia's cultural identity, community spirit, and deep-rooted values.
