Cagliari Cruise Port is excited to welcome Costa Toscana, the new Costa Cruises flagship, on its maiden call to the Sardinian port.
Built by Meyer Turku in Finland and LNG-powered, the ship has a sister ship, Costa Smeralda, that has already called the city many times, and can accommodate up to 6.730 passengers in 2.663 cabins. The interiors feature the best of "Made in Italy," while the on-board experiences feature excellent gastronomy, areas dedicated to shows and performances, pools with slides and water games, spa, gym and themed bars.
For the entire 2023 cruise season, every Tuesday, Costa Toscana calls Cagliari as part of a seven-night itinerary that includes, in addition to Cagliari, also Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia and Naples.
“Costa Cruises is once again betting on the city of Cagliari for its itineraries in the Western Mediterranean. Costa Toscana will call Cagliari weekly till the end of November, for a total of 33 calls. Furthermore, evidence of the high quality of the services provided, also for this season Cagliari Cruise Port has been chosen as one of the ports of embarkation and disembarkation of the Italian company”- affirms Raffaella Del Prete, General Manager of the Cagliari Cruise Port.
“We are finally entering the heart of a season that promises to be more than positive in terms of growth – says Massimo Deiana, President of the Sardinian Sea Port Authority - The definitive normalization of the passengers rates of the ships, combined with the trust that companies such as Costa Cruises are placing in our system ports and the profitable synergy with the port cluster, will lead us, already this year, to move up the national ranking of cruise ports”.
"Cagliari is a strategic port in Costa Cruises' plans. For 2023 we have chosen Cagliari as a regular port of call for our flagship Costa Toscana, the largest and most innovative ship in our fleet, thus increasing our offer compared to last year, when we had deployed here Costa Firenze. Moreover, in our programs Cagliari has a double function: it is a convenient port of embarkation and disembarkation for Sardinian guests who want to come on vacation with us; and at the same time it represents a destination of great interest for all those guests, Italian and international, who embark in the other ports included in the itinerary. Confirming the importance of our cruises in promoting tourism in the area, 60 percent of our guests say they would like to return to the destinations they visited" - said Riccardo Fantoni, Italy Sales Director of Costa Cruises.
To mark the event, this morning the Captain invited Cagliari Cruise Port and the local authorities on board for the crest exchange ceremony, an important moment testifying the friendship between Vessel, Terminal and the City.
