Despite a slightly overcast sky, today marked an important milestone for cruise activity in southern Sardinia: MS Europa called at Cagliari Cruise Port for the very first time, beginning what promises to be a fruitful relationship between the ship and the city of Cagliari.
To mark the occasion, the customary plaque exchange ceremony took place on board. The exchange, a longstanding maritime tradition symbolizing hospitality and good fortune for future visits, was held between the ship’s Captain and a representative of Cagliari Cruise Port. The event was attended by key local authorities, including the Sardinian Sea Port Authority, the Harbour Master’s Office, the Border Police, and the Shipping Agency responsible for port operations.
Guests on board MS Europa were welcomed with a range of excursions, giving them the opportunity to explore the many treasures of southern Sardinia—from the historical charm of Cagliari’s old town, to the stunning coastline, rich gastronomy, and natural beauty of the surrounding region.
This inaugural call highlights the ongoing recovery and growth of the cruise industry in Sardinia, and reaffirms Cagliari’s position as a top destination for international cruise lines.
Welcome to MS Europa — may this be the first of many visits!
